The Residential palace
The inner courtyard is located in the northern area of the building which is considered by Krefter as the residential palace. The plan containing the courtyard shows the typical Iranian introverted dwelling house in which the sunlight and fresh air are provided mainly by the inner courtyard and no windows to the outside or the street are included. The garden is archaeologically unconfirmed but it would have been constructed in the traditional Persian style. This wing was discovered at the earliest stages of excavation of Persepolis in 1931. It was rebuilt by Krefter and Herzfeld and later utilized as both the "Persepolis Museum“ and expedition headquarters.
